STYLE ICONS // Mary McDonnell

Monday, 29 September 2014

All of my life I have always gone a different route to the other girls that I know. While they were shopping, getting manicures and dating, I was watching Star Trek, reading fanfiction and talking to my friends all over the world through the Internet and gushing over my idols. My idols differed greatly from theirs too. They loved Beyoncé, Keira Knightley or Victoria Beckham or whoever was on the front cover of the magazines and emulated their styles. I, however, adored the styles of actresses that would make them give me that look and say 'Who?'.

I'm going to start a new series off where I share the style tips that I have learnt from some of my idols. For the first instalment I'm featuring Mary McDonnell, an Oscar and Emmy award nominee and one of my favourite actresses of all time.

Face of the Day // 2

Saturday, 27 September 2014

I received a compliment yesterday morning from a colleague at work about my make-up and I thought that I would share with you all what I used that morning. Plus, I applied this all at 5:20am with a normal house light as it is pitch black in the mornings now *sad face*. Let's get into it....

Ventures in Venice

Thursday, 25 September 2014

While travelling, I tend to have a camera welded to my hand. It never leaves my hand and the battery is constantly bleeping at me about a low battery because I use it that much. On my recent cruise holiday around the Mediterranean, I snapped a lot of photographs and I thought that, today, I would share my favourite snaps from Venice.

Straight to the Point

Tuesday, 23 September 2014

My latest obsession in footwear are shoes that come with a little bit of a point at the toe. I'm absolutely enamoured with them. Before I jump into gushing about why exactly I love these, I will tell you the very shallow reason why I love them so.... Mary McDonnell wears pointed shoes. 'Who?' I hear you ask. Mary McDonnell. She is one of my most favourite and most loved actresses on the planet and a bit of a style icon for me (keep your eyes peeled for a post all about this magical creature).

The Balm || The Nude'tude palette

Sunday, 21 September 2014

Everyone looks at the in-flight shopping magazine on aeroplanes, right? I have always found myself looking through it to see what they offer in terms of souvenirs (my brother always collected the model planes and I always got a teddy when we travelled as kids). Now, as an adult I find myself drawn to the beauty and fragrance section... That is, after I've checked out the cuddly toys.

Q & A with Kazzie Athena

Wednesday, 17 September 2014

I thought that it might be nice for you all to get to know me a little bit better and to learn a little bit more about the girl behind the blog because I'm real and I'm not a robot but I'm a bit of a weirdo. I found these questions floating around and decided to answer them. Tread carefully...

Name?
Kazzie. It's my nickname.

Location?
Northern Ireland

Blog Name?
Kazzified29 - I figure that I'm kazzifying the world with my own special something or other. And 29 because I love that number.

Favorite color?
Blue. It has always been blue even if I say another colour every now and then.

Favorite food?
Bread.

Do you have a middle name?
Not one. My parents took so long to figure out what to call me that they didn't bother with a middle name. I always wanted one though as I'm the only one in the family without one.

What was your favorite subject in school?
I liked most of my subjects and my favourite generally changed from year to year depending on the teacher and who was in my class. But I liked English once I got a good teacher and knew what the heck I was meant to do when it came to essays. I did take English to A-Level and to university where I now have a degree in it.

What's your favorite drink?
I genuinely love water. I do. I love it. But in terms of soft drink, I love Fanta Orange. For an alcoholic beverage, I love strawberry daiquiris.

What's your favorite song at the moment?
At this moment, I'm loving 'Crazy Stupid Love' by Cheryl Cole. My Dance/Fitness class taught some choreography to this and I love it. It's a sassy song that definitely gets stuck in your head easily.

Do you participate in any sports?
I train with the local Netball club but I don't play for the team. I was introduced to Netball when I was 10 years old and was on the team in Primary School and a year in High School before giving up. I started back at it last September.

What's your favorite book?
I can't think but I do love the books from A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. I'm currently reading Star Trek: Destiny book 1 - Gods of Night

What's your favorite animal?
I love dogs. Especially my dogs. But I love orca whales and dolphins.

What's your favorite holiday?
I'm presuming that this means holiday season and not vacation - I don't really have a favourite holiday because they aren't particularly important to my family. I do like New Year's Eve - mostly because it's great craic.

Have you graduated from High School?

Yes. I graduated in 2007
.

Have you been out of the country?
I have. I have been out of the country countless times.

Do you speak any other languages?
Native language is English but I have studied Spanish and I can speak it when concentrating. I wish I had learnt Irish Gaelic as a child.

Do you have any siblings?
I have one brother who is older than me.

What's your favorite store?
The Disney Store. No lie

What's your favorite restaurant?
Boojum in Belfast.

Do you like school?
I didn't detest school. That's pretty much all I can say. I liked it well enough to go to it and to wake up every day to go.

What's your favorite movie?
Currently it's a toss up between Maleficent and Guardians of the Galaxy in terms of recent movies. Two of my favourite movies are 'Bringing Up Baby' and 'Dances with Wolves'.

What are some of your favorite TV shows?
Star Trek Voyager, Battlestar Galactica (which I'm currently re-watching), Stargate SG-1, Family Guy, Sanctuary, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Dance Moms, Nashville and Orange is the New Black - not necessarily all in that order of favouritism.

PC or Mac?
Due to limited funds, I'm a PC owner and have always been a PC owner and have no problems with PCs. But if a Mac was offered, I wouldn't say 'no' to it.

What phone do you have?
I have an iPhone and it is my right arm.

How tall are you?
5 foot 5.

Any pets?
I have two dogs who are brother and sister. They are the loves of my life and my babies. Literally. You should see how I hold my dog, the girl.

Favorite Smell?
Vanilla. No contest.

Favorite magazine?
I can usually be seen with a copy of ELLE in my hands.

What do you do when you're bored?
Peruse the Internet, tweet, play with my dogs and make graphics..

Those are all the questions and I hope that this has given you a little more insight into the girl behind the blog.

Top Five Friday | Lip Products

Friday, 12 September 2014

As I filmed my travel make-up bag / make-up collection, I found that I had a lot more lip products than I realised. I was actually surprised at that. I didn't realise that I had bought so many. Since I had quite a few, I thought that I would give you a run-down of my top five favourite lip products. I'm saying lip products because there are different types; I've included two lipsticks, a lip crayon, a lip lacquer and a lip gloss. Let's see what they are in greater detail....

VIDEO & REVIEW - Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner

Tuesday, 9 September 2014

Why, why, why, why, why name a video that? What's life without whimsy? I am the worst at applying eyeliner. I can do it decently on the lower waterline but I never knew that you had to apply it to the upper lash-line or even your tight line. I never knew what those words meant until I watched several billion YouTube beauty videos that included eyeliner somewhere.  So I decided to be brave, hike up my britches, and do a live demo for you all and put Maybelline's Lasting Drama Gel Liner to the test.

August Favourites

Sunday, 7 September 2014

It is the end of August (and has been for a week) and that means one thing - countdown to my birthday! Yes, September is my birth month and I'm so excited that it is this glorious ninth month of the calendar year. Usually, I'm not excited but this year has been so good that I'm looking forward to celebrating it and welcoming in the next year of my life.

But before that, let's look back on August twenty-fourteen and take a gander at what made it special.

Bourjois // CC cream

Thursday, 4 September 2014

I know that a lot of people are completely over the whole BB and CC cream craze. Every beauty brand worth their salt has their own BB or CC cream out. Most beauty bloggers have weighed their two cents in on it too. As a newb, I was completely overwhelmed with it all as I had zero clue what the letters actually meant. *puts on Dunce hat* But after much research, I picked up the Bourjois CC cream while in Boots one day to see what the whole hub-bub was about, still not knowing what it did or meant...

Mini Sephora Haul - Buongiorno!

Tuesday, 2 September 2014

Hands up those that knew that there was a Sephora store in Venice. I didn't know. I had consigned myself to needing a visit to America or London to get near to one. Then while exploring the beautiful, yet narrow, streets/corridors of Venice I found one and instantly made a bee-line into it, abandoning my family in the process. (I made the right decision.) I knew that even if I didn't buy anything big, I knew that I had to get something just to say that I bought something in a Sephora in Venice, and ultimately get that iconic bag. Yes, I'm that shallow. So here's what I bought...
