March Favourites 2015

It's that time again where I share with you all the things that made March special for me. It was a very exciting and exhausting month because it was St. Patrick's Day here in Ireland, I was the lighting designer and operator for the production of The King and I by my local amateur musical society and it was generally a very happy month for me so let's dive into the favourites.

B E A U T Y

Let's start off with the beauty favourites as I have a couple here. I know that from the pictures that it seems like that's all I've been loving but there were a few things that I couldn't get around to photographing.

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Foundation (Porcelain & Vanilla)
This foundation has been a life saver and it's been the only thing that I used throughout March. It has amazing coverage. During the production week of The King And I, my skin became incredibly stressed and dry. Mostly because I was stressed out, not eating well and certainly not drinking enough water and my skin suffered. My under eye area became incredibly red and this foundation covered it. It's not a full coverage foundation but it's damn near close to it. It blends like a dream and it feels so good on my skin.

Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush
I blame Jaclyn Hill for this one but I bow down to her for it. She uses this brush in practically every tutorial and look that she does so I had to get it and decided to treat myself to it on one of my previous pay days. This brush buffs my foundation in like nothing else. You cannot screw up your foundation with this brush. I don't feel like it's caked with product when I'm finished and it leaves my skin lookiing flawless. I cannot get enough of this brush.

No7 HIghlight & Contour Brush
I bought this on a whim because the Sculpt Brush by Real Techniques hadn't been released yet (basically, I couldn't find it) and I wanted to experiment more with contouring. It's a dual ended brush; one end has an angled brush and another has a round tipped brush. The angled side is perfect for hugging the contours of your cheek. The brush is incredibly soft. I was shocked by it at first as I hadn't expected it to be that soft. It blends everything out seamlessly. The domed end is perfect for applying highlighter to the tops of the cheek bones and is the perfect size for me for that task. I also use it to blend out bronzer.

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush - Lovely Pink
This is a beautiful subtle blush that really brightens up the cheeks. I have been using this blush almost non-stop throughout March. Lovely Pink is basically that. It's a lovely pink blush that has a marble design to it that has hints of highlight within it. My cheeks have such a healthy glow with this without making me look like a disco ball. I just can't get enough of it.

Asda Makeup Bag
I can't remember when I picked this up but I was in Asda one day and I spotted this on the Reduced To Clear stand. It was only a couple of quid and I was in the market for a makeup bag that would fit nicely into my handbag. This fitted the bill and the adorable floral pattern and design really caught my eye. The material is easy to clean which is great because I put some makeup brushes in it.

Asda Lemon and Passionfruit Shower Gel
This obsession started when I used the Lime shower gel from the same line. I love the smell of this shower gel. It honestly makes me come out of the shower smelling like a Skittle and who wouldn't want that?

New Look Black Boots
Aside from my work shoes, they boots have been my go-to shoe. They are so comfortable and gorgeous. I love the buckles on the side, the block heel and the zip at the back. They're so easy to slip on and off and they go with anything. Love. Pure love.

C.R. Gibson notebook
I fell in love with this notebook the second that I saw it. I've wanted to have a blogging notebook where I can jot down blog ideas or thoughts about things that I want to get or try or little inspirational things. I found this in TK Maxx when looking for something else. I was instantly drawn towards it because it's blue, my favourite colour, the texture of it is exquisite and the design of it just took my breath away. I love how whimsical it looks. I constantly have this in my handbag.

Rodgers & Hammerstein's The King and I
With being the lighting designer and lighting desk operator for my choral society's production, I became rather acquainted with the music. For about three weeks I had the songs stuck in my head. I found myself singing them inwardly at work and when I was trying to sleep. I would just start singing random moments.

Star Trek
I'm sure this doesn't come as any kind of surprise considering Star Trek week last week. I've been watching and reading Star Trek for the last couple of weeks and I've been basking in it. I started watching the DVDs of Star Trek: The Next Generation that one of my closest friends sent me for Christmas and reading the books.
  • Star Trek: Destiny by David Mack - This is a trilogy of three books that had me hooked from the get go but also gave me the biggest headache from trying to keep track of all that was happening. It was insane but insanely good. I loved how it featured so many different characters and in all the situations. The end of book 2 seriously blew my mind! My jaw was on the floor and I was gripping my iPad so hard that I feared that I'd snap it! I loved the chapters that featured Deanna or Will. My Imzadis.
  • My commbadge. I pre-ordered this a year ago from Forbidden Planet and counted down the days to the release date. It never arrived. Then I received email after email telling me that the release date had been changed. Up until last month I had completely forgotten about it until my best friend pointed it out when we were in Forbidden Planet in Belfast a few weeks ago. I instantly snapped it up and cancelled my online order. It's been on my person ever since. I like to think of myself as a covert member of the Enterprise-E or Voyager or Titan and I'm at work because I'm blending in (that'll be funny to those that have watched First Contact). It's all about the little things that get me through my shifts!

Classic FM
I cannot read in total silence. I can't do it. I used to be able to do it when I was younger but not anytmore. Whenever I've been reading the aforementioned Star Trek books, I've been listening to Classic FM through my television. The Smooth Classics with Margherita Taylor has been my favourite time to listen. She plays the most exquisite compositions and I can relax and read. One evening I thought I was listening to something from Dances with Wolves (my favourite movie) but it wasn't. However, it was composed by John Barry. Barry did compose the soundtrack for Dances With Wolves which is why I felt such familiarity with it. The next night, I did hear the John Dunbar Theme from Dances With Wolves. I can just lose myself in the music and read away to my heart's content.

That is everything that I loved during the month of March. Let me know what your favourites were and I hope you have a wonderful April.
