What's In My Travel Makeup Bag(s) || Cruise Edition

Monday, 29 June 2015

Last year was my first holiday where I was actually interested in makeup. So every night, I did my makeup for dinner and from the professionally taken photographs, I think I did rather well. However, this year, it's a whole new ball game and I have learnt so much in the interim that make me cringe when I think that I was doing things right back then. I actually wasn't. When getting ready for this cruise I naturally packed my makeup first because when going for a twelve night cruise, a girl needs her choices and makeup is the priority.

TUTORIAL || Dark Phoenix [Maarvel] Inspired Makeup Look

Friday, 26 June 2015

Welcome back to Fandom Friday. I'm really on a Marvel kick these days. #RegretNothing I love Marvel and I love the excitement that I have when a new movie comes out and I've recently gotten into reading the comic books. I watched the animated series of a whole bunch of Marvel and DC Comics characters and loved them all. Today, I'm going to be going over a makeup look inspired by the colours of the Dark Phoenix, from X-Men.

Belfast Through My iPhone

Wednesday, 24 June 2015

I love nothing more than spending a day in Belfast with the bestie. We often joke that it's a Triple B day - Boojum, Bitching and Browsing. We typically go to Boojum for lunch and stuff ourselves full of burritos and bitch about whatever is on our minds at the time. Then once that has passed, we browse the shops. It usually ends up being the same places; Paperchase, Boots, Disney Store and Castlecourt before heading for coffee somewhere. We end up in Starbucks or Caffe Nero, sometimes we end up in both and multiple times just to have a yarn. I loves me some Caramel Macchiato (Starbucks) or a Caramelatte (Caffe Nero).

GET READY WITH ME || Darts Presentation Dinner

Monday, 22 June 2015

In case any of you didn't know. I play darts. That is, not well or professionally, I'm lucky if I hit a score over 30 most nights. I play with some friends out of a local bar in a local ladies league. We don't take it too seriously. It's a bit of fun, a bit of craic and it's a night out on a Tuesday. It is fun but I hate to lose. The other weekend was the end of year Presentation Dinner where the league awards are given out. It's the perfect excuse to get dolled up. I filmed what I did to get ready so, get ready with me.

TUTORIAL || Scarlet Witch [Marvel] Inspired Makeup Look

Friday, 19 June 2015

Hands up those that loved Avengers: Age of Ultron? I've always loved Marvel but up until recently, it's been exclusively movies and the animated series'. A couple of weeks ago, I actually bought my first comic books. I had been gifted some by a friend but haven't managed to get around to reading them but now I'm in love. I was in Belfast the other week with the bestie and we went into Comic Book Guys in the Spires Mall and I was noseying through the comics there and found two that took my fancy. Both Avengers, one had the Scarlet Witch on the front and one had Iron Man. I read both and loved the Scarlet Witch one. To be more specific: Uncanny Avengers: March to Sixes #024. If that means anything to anybody. With her sass and epic boots, I decided to do a makeup tutorial inspired by her costume colours. So here you have it, a makeup tutorial inspired by The Scarlet Witch.

The Mascara That I Didn't Think I Would Like

Wednesday, 17 June 2015

I'm always up for experimenting with mascara. We have to replace them every three months so it's as good an excuse as any to get a new one. I had had my eye on this offering by L'Oreal Paris for a while. A number of YouTubers have given L'Oreal's Miss Manga mascara some affirmative thumbs up; I Covet Thee and GlamLifeGuru, I'm looking at you two. One day I was casually getting lunch and found myself in Boots with makeup in my hand, as you do, and this lil mascara spoke to me this time. Buy me, buy me

My Current High-End Makeup Wishlist

Monday, 15 June 2015

My beauty wishlist keeps getting longer and longer. I blame pretty much every beauty YouTuber that I follow and Mary McDonnell's current makeup artist, Kristina Vogel. I still blame Robin Siegel too. You know that if Mary's wearing it, I gots ta have it! Within reason...

TUTORIAL || Rogue [X-Men] Inspired Makeup Look

Friday, 12 June 2015

This post is definitely a more spontaneous Fandom Friday. Once Major Crimes Week finished on Sunday, I had no clue what I wanted to do for this week's posts, FF or otherwise. As unbelievably fun and exciting as MCW was, it was exhausting. That's why there was no Monday post this week. I was filming and editing on the fly and down to the wire most of the week. This post was actually inspired by my friend Philip.

The Best Tutorials for Winged Liner

Wednesday, 10 June 2015

Hello, everyone, welcome back to your regular programming here at Kazzie Athena. I hope that you all enjoyed Major Crimes Week. I certainly did. It was an absolute blast sourcing all the outfits and filming the makeup tutorials after work. It was a lot of fun. Today, I'm going to keep it simple and sweet just to get the ball rolling on posting again, a little breather if you will, and bring you some of my favourite cat-eye-slash-winged-liner tutorials.

GET THE LOOK || Mary McDonnell [Phoenix Comic Con 2015]

Sunday, 7 June 2015

It's the final day of Major Crimes Week here. *CRIES* I cannot believe that Major Crimes is back tomorrow night. I'm off Tuesday so I can stay up late and watch it. I'm really excited about that and I'm sure that my heart will be racing wildly in my chest as it tends to do when I'm excited for a show to return. I previously experienced that with Star Trek: Voyager and Battlestar Galactica. To close Major Crimes Week, I'm bringing you another dose of Mary McDonnell and showing you how you can get her look from her appearance at Phoenix Comic Con last weekend.

GET THE LOOK || Detective Amy Sykes [Major Crimes Week]

Saturday, 6 June 2015

Sykes, you're up! When I came up with Major Crimes Week, I hadn't originally planned to do a post for Detective Sykes. I didn't think that I could do her justice and I hadn't really managed to get a good look at her makeup. That was until I started my series re-watch in preparation for the start of season 4. In one of the season 2 episodes, I actually got a really good look at her eye makeup and decided at the last minute that I would attempt it. If I didn't succeed, I would still have a cool smokey eye tutorial.

GET THE LOOK || Sharon Raydor [Major Crimes Week]

Friday, 5 June 2015

For post número tres for Major Crimes Week comes the Captain herself, Captain Sharon Raydor. There's no real reason why I left her today, I just did. In this post I'll be bringing you items that will help you to emulate Raydor's style from the two-part season 3 finale, Special Master. I loved her outfits in these episodes, though as much as I loved her knee-high boots, I would've loved her signature heels to have made an appearance. She was in full Darth Mama Raydor Mode throughout these episodes and boots don't really embody that - trouser suit and a mac, yes! Also, there is a makeup tutorial too on how you can get the complete Raydor look.

GET THE LOOK || DDA Andrea Hobbs [Major Crimes Week]

Wednesday, 3 June 2015

Welcome to the second installment of Major Crimes Week. Next up for this week is Deputy District Attorney, Andrea Hobbs. I've previously done a Get The Look post for Hobbs in the form of a video makeup tutorial. That tutorial is still relevant to Hobbs but I've included an updated version in this post too. You can see the previous one >> here <<.

GET THE LOOK || DDA Emma Rios [Major Crimes Week]

Monday, 1 June 2015

Major Crimes begins it's fourth season on TNT this Monday, June 8th, and my excitement at the return of my favourite show is bubbling with antici......pation (I had to do that!). I honestly cannot wait for the new episodes to see what my favourite sleuths will get up to. Plus, my beloved Mary McDonnell will be back on TV on a regular basis. This makes me very happy. With it's imminent return, it's only natural that I make a big deal about it here. My most popular posts are Major Crimes or Mary McDonnell related. Without further adieu I'm kicking off Major Crimes Week here on my blog, with it's own snazzy tag and everything. Like my previous special, Star Trek Week, there will be posts exclusively focused on the fashion and makeup of some Major Crimes' characters, i.e. the ladies. To kick off MCW, I'm starting with Deputy District Attorney, Emma Rios.
