TUTORIAL || Black Canary [Arrow] Inspired Makeup Look

To close my four-part Arrow Makeup Series is a tutorial inspired by the Black Canary, Laurel Lance played by Katie Cassidy. I hadn't originally planned to include a tutorial for the Black Canary when I came up with the idea for this series but when I saw THIS promotional image, I knew that I wanted to do something for it. I loved the smokey look of it, the big wing and the deep sultry lip. I wanted to do something that might emulate that. So, I decided that my three-part series would be a four-part series.

I'm not a professional makeup artist and I don't know what was used on Katie for this look when she is playing the Black Canary in the episodes. I was solely inspired by this promotional poster. To me, it looked like a smokey wing and a cut-crease. I know that is probably due to the high contrast of the photo, the eyelashes and whatever else enhancements they added in Photoshop but I wanted to challenge myself with doing a cut-crease for the first time. In reality, it's probably a shadow.

And you know, I learnt quite a bit from doing this. I learnt that it's better to deposit liner on the outer corner and then push it through the crease instead of starting in the crease and working backwards, if that makes sense. I learnt that from doing this tutorial. That's why one eye is always already done, haha.
